Misheard Lyrics
There are books and I'm sure websites dedicated to misheard lyrics. Possibly you knew the correct lyrics, but someone told you what they thought they heard and now that's all you hear! Anyway some of them are very funny. The 6 that come to mind for me are;
1) The Police were singing "Roxanne" through my brother's clock radio (hey it was circa 1978) and I was hearing "rocks-sand" and wondering what the hell were they singing about.
2) My college roomates were getting ready to go out one night blasting "Angie" by the Stones and they were singing along as "Angel", don't worry I set them straight pretty quickly.
3) My favorite one that my roomate in London got me hooked on. In Eric Clapton's song "Pretending" there's a line where he sings "everybody knows true love ain't bad" but my roomate heard it as "everybody knows Tone Loc ain't black", it still cracks me up and that's the way I hear it now.
4) R.E.M. sing's in "Man on the Moon" "hey Andy are you goofin' on Elvis, hey baby" and I heard "Hey Andy are you goofin' on Elmer's glue baby" I know it's pathetic, I was clearly missing the whole subject of the song, but at least maybe now I've planted it in your head.
5) This is just one I've heard from somewhere. Harry Chapin's (Bullet's Uncle?) "Cat's in the Craddle" has the line "Little boy blue and the man on the moon" whereas I've heard people say "...doin a little boy at noon", nice huh.
6) A favorite for Chas. The classic Paul Pena song later made famous by Stevie "Guitar" Miller "Jet Airliner". How could you not love a chorus like "big ol' Jed left a light on"?
Anyone want to play along?

Mis-heard. Then you would have to consider the Mighty Krush Groove's Faux Pais.
Sung to Bob Marley's classic "Small Axe"......"if you are big tree, I am a small axe--sharpened to cut you down"
Krush's take overheard at 60 mph in his CJ-7 while heading to the beach?
...."if you are a big G, I am a small F....."
Of course I was completely floored...his response? "wow, I always wondered what he meant about being a "big g".......classic KG
PinF, welcome aboard. I know you have a vast musical knowledge available to enlighten us here. But more importantly, you have a vast knowledge of Krush Groove, and his legendary antics.
I've help build a small cult following of him up here in North Jersey, so readers will love the occasional KG story.
TY Gregg---interesting Blog format here....PinF is gonna walk around, get to know the place. Some classic mis-interpretations here. I am but a pilgrim, journeying through, your knowledge would appear to be equally as vast.
If you are a big G...that's classic.
As soon as I can stop laughing, I'll try to think of a few of my boners as well....but at the moment I'm enjoying that comment.
Let's not forget an all-time classic manufactured misheard lyric. The story from a friend goes that he had a friend named Russell who hooked up with a fatty in school named Michelle. Hence the lyrics to Squeeze's "Pulling Mussles from a shell" became "pulling RUSSELL from MICHELLE" I laugh everytime I think about that one!
In the song "Voices Carry", I thought it was hush, hush, people downtown think it's scary, instead of keep it down now voices carry.
